Shameless Throwbacks

Seeing as it’s Throwback Thursday, I figured I’d hit shuffle on my music library and see where it takes me. Let’s begin.

1) Hootie and the Blowfish: Only Wanna Be With You 

Choice Line: “I’m such a baby, cause the dolphins make me cry.” Me too Hootie, me too.

Emotions felt: Sadness, that Hootie and the Blowfish don’t exist anymore.

Did I own the CD: Yes, and the all the ones that came after. Hootie 4 Life.

Nostalgia Factor: Grade School

Fun Fact: Cracked Rear View was the 16th-best-selling album of all time in the US, so fuck you if you don’t like Hootie.

2) Christina Aguilera: Come On Over (All I Want Is You)

Choice Line: “Don’t you wanna be the one tonight? We could do exactly what you like”. Christina Aguilera tragically underestimating the post-puberty teenage male imagination.

Emotions felt: Erection

Did I own the CD: No. Did I steal the liner notes from my sister? Yes.

Nostalgia factor: Puberty

Fun Fact: Aguilera has been referred to as the “Voice of her Generation” by Wikipedia, clearly forgetting about Hootie.

3) Third Eye Blind: Never Let You Go

Choice Line: “That girl is like a sunburn, I would like to save.” Girls give you cancer – Third Eye Blind

Emotions Felt: If you’re going to have pre-marital sex, promise me you’ll wear sunscreen.

Did I own the CD: Yes

Nostalgia Factor: Middle School Romance

Fun Fact: Third Eye Blind is currently working on their 5th album. Reportedly their last until America’s demands for more Hootie and the Blowfish have been met.
